I have been enamored with Mary Kay Andrews’s books for over a decade. I discovered them when I was working at Barnes & Noble, and she’s remained one of my favorite authors. I’ve read everything she’s written under her pen name, Mary Kay Andrews, and the Callahan Garrity mystery series originally written under her actual name, Kathy Trocheck (they’ve since been re-released with her MKA name).
I may or may not have planned my family’s last vacation such that our road trip would coincidentally lead us through a town where she was having a book signing. I totally geeked out at meeting her.

Her books are guaranteed to be wonderful, and she’s one of the few authors whose work is so reliable I just buy her books without even reading a synopsis.
I’m thrilled to be part of the cover reveal for her next book, The Newcomer.
Here’s the synopsis:
Letty can’t forget her sister Tara’s insistence: “if anything bad ever happens to me, it’s Eli. Promise me you’ll take Maya and run. Promise me.” With Tara found dead in her glamorous New York City townhome, Letty Carnahan is on the run with her four-year-old niece, Maya, in tow. Tara left behind one clue—a faded magazine story about a sleepy mom-and-pop motel on Florida’s Gulf Coast. So, Letty and Maya find themselves at The Murmuring Surf—the suspicious newcomers amidst a quarrelsome group of snowbird regulars. As Letty tries to settle into her new life and heal Maya’s trauma, she’s preoccupied as her late sister’s troubled past and connection to the motel are revealed. And then there’s that attractive detective and his unwelcome advances. Will he betray Letty’s confidence, or is he her next shot at love?
And- drum roll- the cover reveal!

The Newcomer is available May 4, 2021. You can preorder it here.
